Cookie policy

A genuinely short policy: this site sets no cookies at all. It keeps two small entries in your browser's local storage, both described below. Last reviewed: September 2026.

This site is static HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It uses no HTTP cookies, no trackers and no third-party storage of any kind. The two local-storage entries below live entirely in your browser and are never sent anywhere.

1. The cookie-banner preference

  • Key: chickenroad_cookie_choice
  • Value: your answer from the banner — "all" or "essential"
  • Purpose: so the notice doesn't reappear on every page load
  • Set: when you press either button on the banner

2. The session best score

  • Key: chickenroad_best_score
  • Value: your highest recorded result from the home-page run simulation
  • Purpose: so the "session best" readout survives a page reload
  • Set: when you finish a simulated run on the home page

3. How to clear them

Open your browser's site-data or developer-tools panel for this page and remove local storage — both entries vanish together. The only consequence: the cookie banner returns to ask its question again, and your simulated best score resets. The desk considers both outcomes survivable.

4. Choosing "essential only"

Pressing Essential only on the banner records that choice and stores nothing else by it. Note that the run simulation's best-score entry is part of the page's own functionality, not a preference — if you'd rather it never appears, simply don't run a simulation after clearing site data, or clear it afterwards.
